Unified Arts News...

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS
We love volleyball!  Mrs. Downs' classes have just finished a 3-cycle volleyball unit focused on setting, serving, passing, teamwork,  and sportsmanship.  Yomarelis-7L loves volleyball because "it involves a team and communication is very important."  Jenny Mendera-Vallejo 7N says "Volleyball is fun and really helps you keep active."  Carly-7I says "I love how the game is played."  Mr. Gordon’s classes will be starting the volleyball unit this week.

The next 3-cycles, we will be focusing on aerobic vs. anaerobic activities.  Aerobics will include Tabata intervals, A to Z circuit training, step aerobics, line dancing and more 20 minute cardio work-outs.
Also, we have just finished the Hoops for Heart program and our school raised $1560 for the American Heart Association. Great job to all participants!

The last rotation completed their Challenge Labs. This is the most difficult level for a food lab. Within each class, four teams compete. Their challenge is to work with 3 random, mandatory ingredients and utilize other non-mandatory ingredients to create a dish that is judged on their creativity, presentation, taste, group dynamics, and organization with 30 minutes to plan and execute. No recipe!  The new rotation of students will be finishing up the ChooseMyPlate.gov unit and moving onto kitchen and food safety!
