Junior High Proud!

When I tell people that I am an assistant principal at a junior high school, I usually get responses such as, "I could never do that!", "I feel sorry for you" or "You are a brave person".  In reality, Red Lion Area Junior High School is a wonderful place to work.  Everyday, I get to work with amazing students, faculty and staff members who all work together to make the junior high a great place!  Here are a few reasons that I am proud to be part of the junior high:

PRIDE

Our students take PRIDE in their behavior and this is demonstrated by the hundreds of PRIDE tickets that are given out by our faculty and staff.  Pictured below are our weekly PRIDE winners from last week.  One of our popular prizes is the opportunity to have lunch with a group of your friends in a teachers classroom!

Fashion Fair

This past weekend, the junior high hosted our 2nd Annual Fashion Fair!  This event, which was spearheaded by Ms. Bensinger and Ms. Gillis and many student, faculty and staff volunteers, was a huge success.  Ms. Bensinger shared that "over 80 district families attended and walked away with bags and bags of items.  One of the highlights of the weekend was the 3 or 4 families who came to shop and decided to 'pay it forward' by bringing some clothing items to donate.  All families were truly grateful for everyone's generosity."  It truly was great to see so many people come together to pull of this great event.  Pictured below are student and teacher volunteers who helped make the fair a success!

Mix It Up

On October 29th, the cafeteria looked quite different!  As the students walked in, they couldn't help but notice the tables were decorated with colored table cloths and each table was numbered.   When students entered the cafeteria, they were given a card with a random number and they were instructed to sit at the table number that matched their card.  Why the changes?  The Red Lion Area Junior High School participated in National Mix It Up Day--a day that challenges students to sit with people who they may not know.  Students and faculty members participated and enjoyed getting to know new people!
