Classroom Happenings

As an assistant principal, it is one of my responsibilities to know what is happening in the classrooms at Red Lion Area Junior High School.  One of the best ways for me to build this knowledge is by visiting classrooms.  I saw many exciting lessons over the last week!  Here are some examples of what I saw:

Students in Ms. Park's class were working together evaluating writing prompts.  Taking the time to score different prompts help the students know how to improve their own writing!

Students in Mr. Resh and Ms. Dinsmore's science class were working on a lab that helped students distinguish the difference between deductive and inductive reasoning.

Students in Ms. Vasellas and Ms. Mahan's academic literacy classes were working in groups to understand different types of text.  Pictured above, students were interpreting license plates and text messages.

Students in Mr. Grothey's 8th Grade Technology Education class were working together developing plans for a student generated project.  Each group member had to plan out their own idea and then the group members voted on the idea they would towards as a group!

Students in Ms. McGurk's class celebrated National Literacy Day by writing about a positive experience they had with reading.
