News from 8-I

Mr. Stambaugh’s health class is learning about how to improve one’s mental health, which includes taking responsibility for ones actions, decision making, goals and goal setting, good communication skills, dealing with emotions, stress management, mental disorders, and help for the troubled teen.

Mrs. Quinones' social studies classes have been reviewing the 13 colonies, making sure the foundation on which the rest of our school year is built STRONG!  The students have been manipulating fact cards on the board in preparation for their upcoming assessment.

We're off to a great start in Science!  We've already done two labs and will do a few more this month.  We have reviewed many topics from seventh grade, like the Scientific Method and the metric system.  We have learned the branches of science and demonstrated each one.  After we finish up scientific inquiry, we will start rocks and minerals and can't wait to explore them!

Here are students completing the measurement lab using the Metric System.

Ms. Eckert’s English classes are hard at work writing their first informative essays and helping each other peer edit their journal entries. Adding transition words and correct comma usage is not for the weak at heart, but our 8-I students are more than up for to challenge.

8I Math classes have been busy reviewing material here at the beginning of the year. We've spent the past few days in the computer lab taking Math CDT's, which is a Classroom Diagnostic Tool. We will move forward after CDT's are over with new material. All 8I students will have their first math quiz sometime this week.
